Harold Rome used to be a composer and lyricist on Broadway, beginning with Pins and Needles in 1937. His largest hits integrated Call Me Mister, want You have been right here, Fanny, Destry Rides Again, and I Can Get It for You Wholesale and he persevered on Broadway via 1965 with The Zulu and the Zayda. His early profession, after Yale levels, featured songs of “social significance,” lyrics for the typical guy choked with satire.
